Denizens
Beneath Tristam's desecrated cathedral, Diablo's minions wait. Flesh-eating demons, rotting corpses, and winged beasts lurch, swarm and flutter throught the dank rooms and dark halls of this goddless abbattoir. These Servents of Darkness, 150 types strong, are unique horrors with but one purpose - to kill.

..... | The Undead | ..... | This class includes Skeletons, Zombies, Ghouls, Rotting Corpses, and all their putrefying brethern. Aside from Holy Bolt or perhaps Fire Magic, tailor your attack against the abhorred based on specific recommendations for each in their related tables. A blunt weapon works rather well to send the undead back to where they belong. | |

Demons | This class includes
some of the games most interesting and deadly monsters
including Diablo himself. Demons include Overlords, Magma
Demons, Goat Demons, the Hidden, and the Succumbi, among
a host of other devilish fiends. These are simply the toughest creatures you'll fight. Smart, quick, and aggresive, many have ranged-attack capability. Only a Warrior with a decent suit of armor and an excellent blade can stand to slug it out with these creatures. A Sorcerer or Rogue should fight them from afar with a preplanned escape route should the beast close the gap. |

Animals | Diablo present an
enormous menagerie of animal-based creatures with a
mighty lust for human flesh. Gargoyles, Spitting Terrors,
and slavering Scavengers crouch in wait, fangs bared. Fortunatly, animals are vulnerable to almost any form of attack. They make up for this defiency by attacking in swarms. Again, have a preplanned escape route should the beast close the gap. |

Uniques | Beyond the basic
monster categories, the game randomly throws in what the
developers call "Uniques." These named monsters
are devestating versions of their brethern, usually
resembling them except for their coloring or armaments,
and packing much more of a punch. The experience points
given for Uniques is approximatly double that for
monsters of their type. They also have more immunities,
are more resistant to your attacks, and do more damage,
although they maintain a similar Armor Class. Often, Uniques will be surrounded by their more ordinary siblings, who'll be far more dangerous than usual. The reason is that the Unique imbues its horde with whatever specific magic ability is at the Unique's disposal, from modes of attack to invisibility. Take out the Unique quickly if at all possible and its minions will loose that special ability. The bonus for killing a Unique is that it almost always drops a magical item for your efforts. |

Hidden | Concept creatures that blizzard never released into the game that created an "inbalance" in game play or were never fully developed by their producers. None of these creature will be found in a legit game, but can be found in various mods or "hacked" games. |
Diablo's denizens are a
diverse lot, keep in mind the following definitions when you plan
your attack.
.
| Resistance | When a creature is resistant to something - Magic, Fire or lightning it can shrug off most of those attacks. If you throw Charged Bolt at a lightning resistant creature, you might slow it down, but you proberly won't kill it. | |
| Immunity | If a creature is immune to your attacks, it is completely unaffected by them. You can cast Lightning at a lightning immune creature right up until the point where it kills you without ever effecting it. | |
| Damage | This number indicates how much damage the creature will inflict upon you when it attacks. The higher the numerical rating, the more damage you will recieve | |
| Hit Points | This number compares to the hit point category in the Character Statistic Window. please be aware that the creatures' Hit Points will regenerate over time, so you'd better finish them off or you'll be starting again from scratch. | |
| Armor Class | This is a measure of how hard it is to hit a creature. The higher the numerical rating, the tougher the beast will be to do damage to it. |
